Photo/Slide/Negative Scanning FAQ

  1. What process do you use to transfer photos, slides, or negatives?
We scan 35mm slides using an automated scanner typically at resolutions of 2400 DPI. Photos are scanned using a USB flatbed scanner at 400 DPI or more depending on the size of the original. 35mm negatives are scanned on the same scanner using a special adapter. All files are checked and adjusted using Adobe Photoshop prior to saving in the highest quality JPEG format.

  2. How many scans can I put onto a CD or DVD?
The total number of images depends on the media being scanned, but usually a data DVD will hold about 1000 iamges in high quality.

  3. I want to be able to view the images as a slideshow in my DVD player. Can I do this?
For an small additional fee we can create a slideshow with generic instrumental background music. Images are held on the screen for 6 seconds, so on average every 10 images will take 1 minute to view. We can also create custom slideshows using scanned photos, slides, or negatives (and even include already digital images from a digital camera or cell phone) that are synchronized with a custom soundtrack based on music that you provide. Custom slideshows are great for showing at birthday parties, anniversaries, and reunions.

  4. Can slideshows be created in high definition?
Since all images are scanned at high resolution we can create Blu-ray compatible slideshows at maximum 1920 x 1080 pixel quality.

  5. What is the cost of scanning?
We offer bulk discounts for all scanning services so the more you bring in the lower the per unit price. Typically slides, negatives, and photos range from $0.59 each for small orders down to $0.34 each for large quantities.
